Arden for Men Sandalwood by Elizabeth Arden c1957

Arden for Men Sandalwood by Elizabeth Arden: launched in 1957. A line of men's toiletries and fragrances.



Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a warm woody fragrance for men. This sophisticated scent starts off with a fresh herbaceous top of lavender and green leaves, followed by a floral, dry woody heart of geranium and Mysore sandalwood, resting on a mossy, ambery base.
  • Top notes: bergamot, lemon, orange, lavender, petitgrain, clary sage, green leaves
  • Middle notes: Mysore sandalwood, geranium, Virginia cedar, basil, patchouli, Bourbon vetiver
  • Base notes: oakmoss, tonka, musk, labdanum, opoponax, amber
 



Town & Country - Volume 119, Issue 4521 - Page 62, 1962:
"Give yourself a fresh start. With Arden for Men preparations you face the morning with a reassuring sense of perfection. After Shave Lotion. Heals nicksAdds a subtle tang of Sandalwood and a smoothness to your skin. Sandalwood or Citruswood, $4.00. arden for men Created by Elizabeth Arden."
The National Jewish Monthly, 1964:
"'Arden for Men is the greatest thing Elizabeth Arden has done for women* Elizabeth Arden's incomparable After Shave Lotion for men, with the Sandalwood scent women remember; 3.75, plus tax; at Arden for Men."
Industrial Canada, 1966:
"Elizabeth Arden of Canada Ltd., Toronto, predicts that Christmas 1966 will be a vintage year for products of fragrance for men. Two favorite "Arden for Men" colognes (Sandalwood and Classic) are available in a variety of containers including a new aerospray. And Arden's gift packaging is so clever (and useful), Italian leather stud boxes, poker chip boxes, metal tankards and wicker wine baskets."

Cue, 1971:
"For Men: Arden's Sandalwood soaps, lotion, and cologne in a handsome ice bucket, $35."

Playbill, 1974:
"three chunks of superior Sandalwood bath soap, Arden For Men, in a lucite box. $2.75."
